Tattoos are mysterious things. They are loved, they are hated. They are tattooed on, and lasered off. They are permanent, yet also removable. Tattoos have been used to represent anything and everything, from genealogy to cultural identity, and to the outright bizarre.
Over the course of history, tattoos have been both applied and removed by many varying methods. The most popular way in recent times has been through the use of lasers. In my opinion, this is an excellent improvement, compared to older methods such as actual burning, and physical removal of the affected skin. I think that bodies are sacred, due to my adherence to the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Tattoos have been compared to graffiti by numerous people, and I think this to be an accurate analogy. Lasers that are used to remove tattoos could easily be compared to the soap used to clean off graffiti. The technology that is used to remove tattoos via lasers is both interesting and innovative.
However, the removal of tattoos can leave a person feeling like they have lost a part of their identity, a part of who they are, or rather, a part of who they once were. But a single tattoo or a single concept does not comprise what a person must be, and these lost aspects can be replaced with different ones. Identities of individuals can be preserved, regardless of the removal of their tattoo(s.) Self expression is also of course possible in other ways besides tattoos.
I have met and associated with a fair amount of individuals who have tattoos, and they are thoroughly normal people, excepting the percentage of all humanity that isn’t, which of course includes people with tattoos. The mere fact that a person has tattoos doesn’t make them bad. The clarity of their souls is what quantifies that.
Overall, I think society is greatly improved by laser tattoo removal. The world will be a much cleaner place when the people in the world are cleaner, in body, mind, and soul. Furthermore, cleanliness is close to godliness.
The legacy of tattoos is and will be one of self expression, creativity, hazardous chemicals, and skin damage. But the creativity and self expression is the better part.

(Please note that I consider this notice, the date, and the link to the website to not count toward the 400 word limit parameter for the essay. That seems reasonable. As a result, the word count for this essay comes to exactly 393 words, which is within the required criteria. Also note the creative usage of paragraphs and lines in the last five paragraphs of this essay, before the link and this notice. The creative usage I refer to is that the last five paragraphs contain, in descending numerical order; five lines, four lines, three lines, two lines, and finally one line.)
